so I was taking a few headshots for a family friend to use on a theater resume...when my tripod mount completely popped out of my camera, dropping the camera (only 6 months old, mind you) 4 1/2 feet to the ground. I picked it up, and it was totally unresponsive. argh!
after about 45 minutes of jumping through hoops with HP customer service, they finally agreed to replace it at no cost, since the camera totally fell apart due to no fault on my part. I'll be camera-less until they ship the new one to me, though...grr...the new one ships next week, supposedly, so I'm guessing I'll have it about 2 weeks from now...until then, my brain is itching

so I entered Beauty Through Chaos in the photography division at the local fair...got home from Chicago last night and headed to the fair, and there was a shiny blue ribbon next to it! :D Not a major competition by any means, but I was pretty happy nonetheless. :)
Now to figure out what to do with my whopping $3 in prize money.... ;)
